I believe you should rebuild your company with the help of a Certified Consultant. They will help you set all of the data up correctly. They can work with you on your Chart of Accounts, Customer lists, Vendors and Inventory. You can purge out inactives and update the information as you rebuild. A Certified Consultant does have the skill level to remove it from one program and put it into another. I would not bring over any of the transactions, but I would bring over beginning balances. I would leave both companies open in your software and you can toggle back and forth between the two companies. I don't believe just zeroing out balances is the true answer to all of your problems.
