How to process a sales tax refund on the following scenario. A taxable customer purchases an item on Monday and pays for it, including sales tax. Two days later the same customer comes back with a sales tax exemption certificate and wants a sales tax refund on the Monday sale. I have tried different ways to process this transaction and the refund does not appear on the sales tax report. However, it does appear on the general ledger report. Please explain the proper way to do this transaction. I discovered one way, but it is a little complicated.
