Customizing the form doesn't affect the Sales Invoicing window. The only way to alter the layout of the sales invoicing window it open that window, click the Layout button (near the right end of the toolbar), and choose Customize Invoice Layout. Here you can choose which fields to show or hide. But you can't change the field order or add fields that aren't already on the list. Once you have customized the screen layout, go back to the Layout button to make sure your new format is selected.
