Forum Post: Need to install Sage 50 on dev machine?

We have an internal web app that we use to keep track of inventory, and we want to integrate it with Sage 50. We did a full install of Sage 50 on our accountant's computer and a server-only install on one of our servers, so that the database would be accessible both from the accountant's copy of Sage 50 and from our web app. However, when I started development on this project and tried running it in debug mode, I learned that Sage 50 needs to be installed on any computer on which you want to use the Sage API. Do I actually need to do another server-only install on my development machine, or would it work just to copy some of the DLLs and other files from the server? (I have no need at all to actually use Sage on my machine or store any data there -- I just need to be able to use the API to make changes to Sage data on the server remotely) Or perhaps there's some way to tell the API to search for the files it needs on the server instead of my local hard drive?
