Hi ShawnaA , Thanks for reaching out. Have a look at KB 11280 on How can I write off bad debt . Section II discusses how to write off invoices. We also have KB 11967 on how to handle a customer non-sufficient funds (NSF) check which you may want to review. Hope this helps! Erzsi

The database repair utility did not solve the problem. Would I need to uninstall/re-install the Pervasive engine as described in the knowledgebase link provided?

It's worth a try.

Is there a way to use the software without installing the 2020.2 update?

have always had column on sales orders/invoices for account number - why is that no longer there? How do you get items charged properly without that. That column is on purchase orders/purchases.

Everyone needs to be on the same release. So yo would have to reinstall on the server and other workstations to get back to 2020.1. Since there's no data conversion when going from 2020.1 to 2020.2 I would guess that you'll be able to open your 2020.2 data file in 2020.1 but I've never tested that. So if you're interested in moving back to 2020.1 you should test it before reinstalling on every computer. Eventually you will need to upgrade, but you may be able to skip over 2020.2 and go directly to 2021 when it releases.

I had issues with this upgrade on my network too. I took windows updates on all computers and restarted them. I went to the server and opened Sage 50 and signed in. I went to the client machine, Turned on the firewall and turned off the antivirus. I was finally able to install the 2020.2 upgrade.

I think I would enter a negative invoice or a credit memo that mirrors the original invoice to reduce your sales. Then do a negative cash receipt to "pay" the credit memo/negative invoice. If the bank charge shows on your statement as a separate transaction, then just enter it like any other bank charge using a Payment or a General Journal Entry. If the bank took out the fee and the returned check as one amount, then on the same negative cash receipt transaction that you applied against the credit memo, move over to the Apply to Revenues tab and enter the bank charge as a negative amount. Use your normal bank charges account for the GL Account. If you track sales taxes be sure to take out the sales tax code at the bottom of that window so the bank charge doesn't throw off your tax reporting.

If you are currently subscribing to Sage 50, you would just need to purchase the multi-user drive to allow everyone to connect. https://www.bestbusinessstrategies.com/drivemulti Once you have that, you would go to File> Sage Drive and set up the users, then share the data.

When looking at my audit report, I see that a user has been deleting entries that they made in error. How do you set their permission to where they are not able to delete any entries that they or someone else made?

Oh, boy! "Enhancements!" Not. Who gives a *** about these enhancements. What about the REAL enhancements that I have been asking for...for how long do you ask? DECADES. Yes, DECADES. Like: Why can't we use a negative sign to unbuild an assembly item? We used to be able to. How about putting the item ID in the Select Assembly list so we can actually find something. How about updating the Payroll module so it functions more like the other modules. When are you going to make actual enhancements, not these stupid little feel good moments you are hoping for? All these "Enhancements" allow you to raise your software ownership 10 fold above inflation without any real improvements. Stop resting on your laurels and get something meaningful done.

Why are my List columns all changed? How is THAT an enhancement???? Enhancements are supposed to make my job easier. Not HARDER. Now I have to go and change all my columns around...again...

Forum Post: RE: User permissions
You can edit a user's rights by going to Maintain > Users > Setup Security. If you are using Sage 50 Premium, you can select a user and then click the Edit User's Rights button. If you are using Quantum, look to see what role(s) is assigned to the user, then go to the Roles tab and edit that role. Whether you're edit a user or a role, the screens look basically the same. You'll select a category, such as Customers & Sales or Vendors & Purchases, then you can either select "Tasks" to edit all tasks in that area, or select and individual task/transaction type. Ether way your choices are: Full Access Edit Add View Only No Access Anything less than Full Access will not allow them to delete an entire transaction. With Edit access they could delete any or all of the lines from a transaction but they could not delete the transaction itself.

Notify User Before Shutting Down for Inactivity
I understand the reasoning behind shutting down cloud-based software for inactivity; however, I was ACTIVELY working on a 275 item Sales Invoice when it happened to me. I was entering #186 when it simply shut down due to inactivity. Two hours of my work was simply gone. Now I have to redo it all. If we cannot modify the time out for our personal preferences, at least have something come up that asks if we actually want to close. Modify the program so if you are working on one thing for an extended period of time, it at least knows you are ACTIVELY working in the program.
